THE BASE DOODLE REVERSIBLE COWL is the perfect project for when you can't pick just one idea! Why not do a different theme on each side (think: cats & dogs, autumn & winter, floral & fauna), a different yarn kit on each side, or just knit the inside as a pop of a single color! The combinations are endless!

Our Base Doodle Patterns are the first step in the Doodle Framework! Choose any Base Doodle Pattern, choose charts from any Collection, choose your yarns, and start knitting!

This cowl is knit in the round, starting with a provisional cast-on. After casting on, create a purl row edge on the bottom, knit a section of optional colorwork to desired height, add another purl row edge at the top, and then knit the second side! The reversible cowl is assembled by folding and grafting for a seamless finish. 

SIZES

Approx. 20 (24, 28, 32) in [40, 50 (60, 70, 80) cm] finished circumference

YARN

Any DK, light worsted, or sport weight yarn that meets gauge. Doodles are designed to use leftover yarn, yarn advents, or any other small batches of colorways in your stash. Yarn shown is a suggestion from the Designer. Alternative yarns are encouraged.

Yardage listed in total yards per size in colorwork due to the customizable nature of this pattern.

• 450 (650, 750, 850) yards
• 411 (594, 686, 777) meters

NEEDLES

• US 5/3.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
• 24 in [60 cm] circular needles

GAUGE

24 sts & 24 rounds per 4 in [10 cm]

NOTIONS

• Stitch markers (one in different color if adding colorwork)
• Spare circular needle for grafting of same size or smaller
• Waste yarn and crochet hook for provisional cast on
• Scissors & Tapestry needle

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Special techniques include (optional) stranded colorwork in the round, provisional cast on, and grafting.
